Karen Ann Hoffman
Weaving Story, Spirit, and Strength Through Beadwork
Karen Ann Hoffman and I have known each other for almost 20 years. She is an incredibly gifted artist and a wise, generous storyteller.

Her work in Haudenosaunee Raised Beadwork, a distinct style rooted in the Six Nations Confederacy, is nationally celebrated for its beauty, meaning, and cultural depth. Her pieces, often years in the making, thoughtfully blend traditional forms with her own innovative designs.
“According to the National Endowment for the Arts and Beyond the Page, Karen Ann Hoffman (Oneida Nation of Wisconsin) has work in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian, the Field Museum, the Iroquois Indian Museum, and the Oneida Nation Museum” (see references below).

Karen doesn’t just make art, she brings forward the voices of her Ancestors through teaching this time-honored tradition. Her work sings with history, resilience, and hope.

Crafted in Leather: Timeless Artisan Work

Meet the hands behind the craftsmanship, my husband, the heart and soul of New Dawn Trading Company. With over 30 years of experience working with leather, he has mastered the timeless art of handcrafting goods that are as durable as they are beautiful. Every piece he creates tells a story—stitched with care, shaped by skill, and inspired by a deep respect for tradition.

When he’s not at the workbench, you’ll likely find him in the peaceful woods of Wisconsin following his passion for traditional archery and hunting.
Or you might find him out in the shop working on an art project where a connection to nature influences every item he makes, grounded in rugged simplicity and built to last.

From backwoodsmen’s bags to journals and women’s shoulder bags, his work honors the old ways, drawing inspiration from nature and traditional practices while embracing quality and function for today.

Each item from New Dawn Trading Company is a blend of heritage, purpose, and the quiet strength that comes from doing what you love, one stitch at a time.
